Interview Meme ^___^
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on...

I truly am terrible at coming up with questions, so anybody that wants to get interviewed by me will probably be asked the same questions I was.

Interviewed by anyjen

1-What made you decide to write fanfiction?
Harry Potter. It was my first fandom ever. I remember daydreaming about Sirius, and then a friend of mine linked me to "The Pit" (which I think is an appropriate name overall, but there are some real gems on that site). It was all over after that; I started writing down what I was daydreaming about and have never once looked back.

2-Which was your first favourite yaoi couple?
Sasuke/Naruto. It was also the first anime I ever watched (I don't remember 'Sailor Moon' all that well, and I've never watched InuYasha or Dragonball). Anyway, I watched that scene where Naruto and Sasuke accidently kiss, then when Sasuke jumped in front of Haku's needles to save Naruto, and the resulting rage Naruto felt when he thought Sasuke was dead...and, well. Hit me like a ton of bricks, it did. Kakashi/Iruka soon followed after that ^___^

3-How did you find out about yaoi/slash, and when did you know you were hooked?
I was  always aware of slash. Even in the HP fandm, I knew people preferred Harry/Draco or Remus/Sirius. I just never cared for it. When I started searching for more SasuNaru or KakaIru than I was searching for my Harry Potter OTP, and then I started watching other anime's (and reading manga online), and I found myself pairing up the guys, I knew I was addicted.

4-Fanfiction peeve?
Bad grammar/puncuation. LJ HAS SPOILED MEEEE! Seriously. I go back to read some fics I know I enjoyed before, and now all I can see is  problems. They usually have great plot, but the writing is not so good. I suppose some would view this as "taste"? I have taste now, lol.

5-Name your deepest, darkest fanfiction secret. (me, I once wrote a Mary Sue. ^^U)
Hmm. I'm a pairing snob? That is, I refuse to read a fic (even if it's by an author I really like) if I don't like the pairing. The only exceptions are my friends, because I luv them. I don't think that's a deep, dark secret, though. =.= I can't think of one that seems really "deep and dark", just stupid little stuff. Gomen nasai!

Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Ask me! Interview me!

And I agree with your answer to number 5. I find it very hard to read fics with pairings I don't like. (For example: even if it's by a favourtie author, I have to struggle to read a Luffy/Zoro story)

Really?! I always feel guilty when I don't read something somebody I know writes (not a friend, but an acquaintance). But I suppose it doesn't matter to them. So, ZoSan was the pairing you immediately liked, then?
melisandre013: kickmelisandre013 on December 25th, 2008 04:39 am (UTC)
Yeah. Zoro/Sanji was the first One Piece pairing that I felt.
popkin16popkin16 on December 25th, 2008 04:44 am (UTC)
:D Same here!

You know, I don't think I've ever asked, but do you have any side pairings you enjoy?
melisandre013melisandre013 on December 25th, 2008 04:52 am (UTC)
Ace/Smoker, Robin/Franky, Luffy/Nami, Luffy/Usopp, Ben/Shanks, Sanji/Gin (but it has to be an imperfect relationship for that one), Calgara/Norland...hmm...
popkin16: Kondo - LOLpopkin16 on December 25th, 2008 04:54 am (UTC)
Pretty much all the same for me (except for the Sanji/Gin. I don't care for Gin all that much). It's when you're trying to list all the side-pairings you like that you realize the sheer number of characters OP has >.< If you factor in the pirates, marines, and others the list is crazy large.
melisandre013melisandre013 on December 25th, 2008 05:17 am (UTC)
Yeah. There's a couple odd ones that I'll read. Crack with Sanji in it makes me laugh every time. Like I read one story that involved tentacles and Sanji like flipped out. It was great. So I guess Sanji/Tentacles is another of my pairings.

Chopper is too damn innocent to be part of any pairing. Brook is a skeleton and does not work for any pairing if you don't go AU.
popkin16: Blushing Zoropopkin16 on December 30th, 2008 06:50 am (UTC)
I love crack, plain and simple. Have you read the crack!series about Lucci's cross-dressing brother, Marco (I think his name is)? :D Ooo, tentacles. I admit to fondess for Sanji/Tentacles. And Zoro/Tentacles. But most especially for Tentacles/Zoro/Sanji. Like that fic by...I think salmon_pink.

Ditto on the Chopper bit. It makes my stomach turn to think of him in a relationship. Brooke...well, it's just not possible, is it? And if it is, I don't want to know how.
anyjenanyjen on December 31st, 2008 06:30 am (UTC)
...would you be totally horrified if I told you I have a theory on how a Brook/someone (possibly Zoro) could work?
I haven't formulated it completely yet, but I think I've come up with one... the real problem would be making it sexy. I love Brook, but it's just not easy to think of him in any sexual context and not shudder in disgust. :P

(but, oh, the challenge!! I'm a sucker for challenges. Like a moth to a flame! Like a fangirl to mud-wrestling bishounen! >_<)
popkin16: Boys In Books...popkin16 on January 3rd, 2009 05:17 am (UTC)
I'm partly horrified, but mostly curious. If you don't mind sharing your theory, I wouldn't mind reading about it.
True~ He's more of a comic relief character, not really someone sexy.

(LOL Wonderful comparison there. "A fangirl to mud-wrestling bishounen!")
anyjen: Watacatanyjen on January 3rd, 2009 01:31 pm (UTC)
I was trying to explain my theory here, but the rant got so long that it would be better if I just posted it in my journal. Be warned: it's the most far-fetched thing I've come up with in a looong time. :P

(but isn't it true? what fangirl would be able to resist the temptation of sexy bishounen tangled together in the mud? XD)
popkin16: Kingdom Hearts - Rikupopkin16 on January 6th, 2009 05:20 am (UTC)
I think I commented on your Brook explanation entry. Maybe? I don't remember now >.< I'll have to check. I know I read it...

(No respectable fangirl, anyway. So nobody I know)

popkin16: Smilepopkin16 on December 29th, 2008 05:58 am (UTC)
Sure, no problem! I change the first question a bit, since I'm not sure you write fanfiction.

1-How did you discover fanfiction?
2-Which was your first favourite yaoi couple?
3-How did you find out about yaoi/slash, and when did you know you were hooked?
4-Fanfiction peeve?
5-Name your deepest, darkest fanfiction secret.

sorry for the delay
LOL yeah i dont write ff D:

1. back in 2000 i guess when i only cared about card captor sakura, sailor moon, rurouni kenshin, saint seiya.. anime that was aired here basically. I was 16 at that time ;w; when i started looking for info for those shows i came across some weird stories :| but i ended up liking most of them
2,3. the one i was like "hey there is something 'wrong' here" was Touya/Yukito from card captor sakura; not that i was against homosexuality, just that it wasnt so common when i was young ;w; *i feel old* common in anime shows that is (even when i watched saint seiya LOL but it wasnt canon)
after finding about fanfics, my first noncanon couple was kenshin/sanosuke ^^
4. OOCness; unless its made for fun (like my memes LOL) no, srsly, i cant take occnes, i dont read fanfiction mostly because of that. Also im not too fond of AU fics D:
5. I wrote a lame, boring fanfiction once, when i was 17 y.y
foxy sama ♥: 59foxarashi on December 30th, 2008 10:34 am (UTC)
damnit, i just read the rules XDDDDDdd im supposed to post this on my journal..
oh my, my stupidity levels are incredible high..
popkin16: Kondo - LOLpopkin16 on December 31st, 2008 05:45 am (UTC)
It's problem! :D
lol Yeah, I thought so.

1. That's really cool! I think your country has shown more anime than mine does :D
3. Is Rurouni Kenshin good? I started it but couldn't finish. Do you have an ultimate OTP now?
4. Ohh, I see! Do you like crack fics, where people purposely write characters as OOC? I enjoy AU's, but not as much as fics in the original world.
5. I'm sure you write wonderfully! ^__^

And you're not stupid! You just forgot to post this in your LJ too, that's all. XD
foxy sama ♥: kaminafoxarashi on December 31st, 2008 11:49 am (UTC)
XDD you're so sweet but trust me, i AM stupid XDD ♥
rurouni kenshin is a classic <3 the manga is awesome, the art is gorgeous; the anime is great up to some episodes where the fillers started and never ended. There are a couple of OVAs that are also awesome *A* its very different from the anime though
ultimate OTP ? from kenshin ? or in general ?
popkin16: Blushing Zoropopkin16 on January 1st, 2009 04:46 am (UTC)
Well, I don't think so, but I won't argue about it with you *nod*
Aw, RK had fillers that never ended? What a horrible way for an anime to go >.< I'll have to give the series another go. Ultimate OTP in general, I mean, lol.
foxy sama ♥: raep time bbyfoxarashi on January 1st, 2009 01:59 pm (UTC)
that's a hard one XD
i have three XDDDDD omg i cant pick one

popkin16: Majin Tantei Nougami Neuropopkin16 on January 3rd, 2009 04:53 am (UTC)
LOL You're allowed to have three. No rule that says you can't :)

YamaGoku ♥

Another Naruto/Sasuke geek!! yay! Almost the exact same thing happened to me while reading those scenes (I read it first, and didn't get a chance to watch it until years after), but then again, I was already a yaoi fan by then so it didn't come as such a big surprise for me. XD
The yaoi goggles are scary...

And I wonder why Kakashi/Iruka is so darn popular? those two hardly even meet in canon... :P
(but I'm a KakaIru fan nevertheless XD)

Ouch. That happens to me too!
I started reading fanfiction at the tender age of twelve (and, believe it or no, one of the first I read was a yaoi! purely by mistake! XD) and back then it was very hard for me to do because I only had two years of English on me, so I had to consult the dictionary about a docen times per sentence.
I didn't even know all the tenses yet, and synonims were a luxury. It's no surprise I didn't even notice when they were badly written.
A while back I got nostalgic and decided to go re-read those stories that I had strived so hard to read the first time (and see if I got the plot this time) ...and what a dissapointment! most of them were terribly written! Not only on grammar and splling, most of them had awful characterization and no plot whatsoever... :P
I eventually discovered a community for fanfics in Spanish, but I never did stop reading fanfics in English.
It's one fo the reasons I always did so good in my English classes. I was already familiar with most of the things the teachers presented. :D

A pairing snob? really?
I was like that at the beggining, but now I've broadened my horizons... I have my OTPs, but I can read practically any pairing I come across.
It usually takes a lot of creativity to make alternate pairings work, and the resulting fics are usually fascinating. :3
...though I guess I do have my reservations when it comes to a girl/girl pairing... I have nothing against it on principle, I just enjoy my boys better. ^^U
popkin16: Kondo - LOLpopkin16 on December 31st, 2008 06:03 am (UTC)
I haven't actually read the Naruto manga (Shippuden I have, though). Naruto/Sasuke seems to be the gate to the world of yaoi for a lot of people :D
Well you're aware of the difference between good fics and bad are now. So that's something! And you write a lot better in English than some native people I now, so...you should definitely be proud! Especially since it helped you with your English so much -- that's definitely one way to learn! How many English classes have you taken, anyway? And why'd you decide to take them?

Yep, I really am.
Lucky~~ No matter the author or how well-written, I just can't read a pairing I don't care for. >.<
That's the best way to put it! I feel the same way, but could never put it into words how I felt about yuri. You, my friend, have a way with words *nod*
anyjen: tag teamanyjen on December 31st, 2008 06:54 am (UTC)
I've been taking English classes since I was ten.

I guess I started because my mother wanted me and my sisters to learn a foreign language and English was a safe bet (plus the only one for which regular classes could be taken in my city). I was lucky and got a really nice teacher during the first year that made me love the language, so I just never stopped studying.
We're talking between three and five hours weekly (plus all the fanfiction I could squeeze in there) until I was 18. Since then, my world is English, because I became an English teacher trainee, and most of my subjects are in English.
Plus I've been reading fanfiction in English since I was twelve, and since I was 16 I've been able to read full-lenght English books (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was the first, btw. ^^)
And for the last four years, I've practically not needed the aid of dictionaries! :D
(unless I come accross words like "sartorial" or "penurious", for example)
Right now, I spend so much time thinking in English that at times it becomes hard to find the right words to express myself in Spanish. And that's my mother tongue we're talking about! XD

...that sounds so much like a challenge that I'm having trouble keeping the plotbunnies under control. They are insisting I could write a Kohane/Doumeki or a Brook/Zoro and make you like it! >_<
Darn things are fierce when they want to be. :P
